About Us
Her Turn is a peer-led sober house for women — a welcoming home where each woman has a voice and contributes to the household community. Our home is for women who are serious about their recovery and ready for more independence, but still want the safety and support of a sober environment.
Our philosophy embraces mutual support and encouragement. The women who live here share responsibility for keeping the home alcohol- and drug-free. There are no phases, no live-in house manager, and no structured program. Instead, three residents serve as rotating peer leaders who keep the household running — supporting each other, not managing each other.
Peer-led living
At Her Turn, the women run the house. Instead of a single house manager, three residents serve as rotating Structure Facilitators:
- Home Coordinator — coordinates chores and household upkeep, teaches new residents how the house runs
- Recovery Support Coordinator — helps residents stay connected to meetings, sponsors, and recovery support
- House Meeting & Welcome Coordinator — facilitates the weekly house meeting and welcomes new residents
These are service roles, not management positions. They rotate among eligible residents — the house votes on how often. No one serves as authority over another resident. Debra, the owner, retains authority over admissions, drug testing, room searches, and serious decisions.
This is a middle ground between structured sober living and living entirely on your own. You get the freedom and independence of living on your own, with the safety and community of a sober household. No one is managing your recovery — that's your responsibility. But you're not doing it alone, either.
Having fun!
Learning to have fun without relying on drinking or drugs is essential to recovery. At Her Turn, we believe that a fulfilling life in sobriety should be filled with adventure, joy, and engaging activities.
Our household is diverse on the fun spectrum. We have ladies who love to hike, seek outdoor adventures, love sports, art, cooking, and gardening, to name a few. The pool, patio, and fire pit make the house a natural gathering spot.
